The aunt's story

Rose-coloured fear
2002

translated by  Yannis Goumas

Yes, I think I am.
Yes, I am now.
The dragging of my skirt
the straw hat
the bold pate as the door opens.
There are so many things
things that allow me to enjoy a place
where time once was
for them I let my hair grow and take wing at night
timid things, blushing
as they go from sadness to glory.
Yes, smiled Theodora;
my hands are coarse
but I can touch everything.
