Socrates Kabouropoulos (b. 1962) is a poet and translator. He currently works as a book policy consultant at the office of the Greek Minister for Culture. Between 1996-2014 he worked at the National Book Centre of Greece as a senior officer, engaged in research projects and in the books-in-print database, Biblionet. Between 2009 & 2012 he co-organized four consequent Greek-Anglophone Poetry Translation Workshops, in Paros and in Delphi. He has published poetry and poetry translations both in Greek and in English, in journals such as Paremvasi, Poiisi, Poiitiki, Teflon, Poema, Frear, Oropedio, Little Red Leaves, New American Writing and Poetry Review. His poetry translations have been presented in book launches & symposiums (i.e. new poetry by Theo Dorgan, Paula Meehan and Harry Clifton at the Living/Writing Poetry Symposium in Athens, in December 2015). He has edited collective translations from English into Greek of contemporary Danish poets (Inger Christensen, Pia Tafdrup, Pia Juul, at 25th/26th issues of Poiisi Mag.) and from Greek into English of contemporary Greek poets (Katerina Anghelaki-Rooke, Christophoros Liondakis, Giorgos Veis, Haris Vlavianos, etc., at the 102:1 Spring 2012 issue of Poetry Review).
