At the bottom of the face

Ippokratous 15
2011

translated by Yannis Goumas

Again today I didn't shave my beard
Nor my queries

I rehearse my funeral
In the mirror's quicksand
Disgorging
Foam and shreds

Suffocating
At the bottom of my face

I daren't emerge
The surface isn't salvation

There you'll see drowning
There you'll see sinking

Let me stay here and feel my body
Clean of buoyancy
This instinct that draws you
By force to float

For certain, one day, when I'm able,
I'll write the impressions of a drowned man
