The imperative holiness of Dylan Thomas

An even wound
2009

translated by  Yannis Goumas

Off all the Thomases
to me
the most trustworthy
he never revealed
what sort of props
the darkness needs

he

a collier always
seeking the vain of devoutness
all its diamonds

some people want them for jewellery
and others to burgle them
at an ungodly hour in the night
caught innocent in the act

if there also happens to be a full moon
then you can abduct God

and there' s no bargaining

nothing

only to look at yourselves
sharing panic equally
dividing it in two

Now I know Dylan
how you managed to live

only by seeing
