We were defeated, as always

Bare Museum
2013

translated by Konstantine Matsoukas

Afternoon
Departure time
The light is not jesting
It does not idly threaten
It is going
Slowly we picked up our step
Some threw pebbles
Some bits of bread
Everyone hoping for a return
I alone
An old man
Paid no heed to the signs
What use are they to me anyway
That's not where I get my direction
Streets have a memory
They entice me when they see fit
Who am I not to tread them
I left two pips
I did
Whether of grape or breast
It's all the same
Someone else now imbibes them
I left a country
I did
Again
All over again
