Maria Koulouri was born in Chalkida in 1975. She lives in Athens. She has studied Speech-Language Pathology, Psychotherapy , as well as, Drama and Theatre. She works as a speech therapist, psychotherapist, and as an animator at a theatre group of autistic and intellectually challenged adults. "Bare Museum", her first poetry collection, was published in 2013 by Melani publications. For this collection, she won the Award for the First Appearing Poet, by the Hellenic Writers Company. She was nominated for the National Poetry Prize. She also had one extra nomination at the First Appearing Poet category in the literary prizes of the "the Reader" magazine. "Clocks and other beats", her second poetry collection, was published in 2015 by Melani publication. Her poems and texts have been published in print and online literary magazines. Her one act play scripts have been presented in the form of a staged reading by the Hellenic Centre of International Theatre Institute. She is also the screenwriter of the short film "Possibly strangers", directed by George Paterakis, which has been presented in local and international festivals.
