Kabouropoulos Socrates
2016

you looked him in the eyes
then pulled back to scan
                         everyone watching you

'the world's such a comedy'
                            you chirped
in a marble eye
                 of archetypical seduction

your braids embraced your sack
                 ahead of a summer holiday
          in Milan and the Lakes

It's hard to imagine you
            ten years from now
        -what can possibly go wrong?

loved (and not just 'lovable')
           with a need
       to respond to this spur

your adolescence waning with age

then life, unlike a comedy,
full of pains, knives at the back
seething
with a new spring of emotions
